Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026
The short version: We collect your email, username, and payment info to run the service. Your voice is never stored — only text transcripts pass through our servers momentarily for translation. We don't sell your data. Ever.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your username, email address, and a hashed (one-way encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only a Stripe customer ID and subscription ID — never your card number, CVV, or full payment details. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment data.

Session data: When you use the Speaker role, your spoken words are transcribed by your browser's built-in Web Speech API (provided by Google Chrome). The transcribed text — not audio — is sent to our server, forwarded to the translation API, and broadcast to connected listeners. We do not record or store audio. We do not store transcribed text after it is broadcast.

Usage data: We may collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and pages visited. This data is used for security monitoring and service improvement.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe stores your payment method details. See stripe.com/privacy.

Google Web Speech API: Speech recognition runs in your browser via Chrome's built-in API. Google may process speech data per their privacy policy when using this API. See policies.google.com/privacy.

MyMemory Translation API: Text chunks are sent to MyMemory for translation. MyMemory may log translation requests. No personally identifiable information is included in translation requests. See mymemory.translated.net.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored in a secured database. We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We retain account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

5. Listeners

Listeners who join sessions without creating an account are not identified by name or email. We do not associate listener activity with any personal identifier beyond a temporary session connection ID, which is discarded when the session ends.

6. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

7. Your Rights

8. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. This cookie is essential for the Service to function and cannot be disabled while using the Speaker role. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
